What is Together in Christ?

What is Together in Christ?

Together in Christ has been published in booklet form by the Southwark Diocesan Christian Unity Commission, three times a year, since 1983.  The original editor was Una Ratcliff, and in her first editorial she wrote:

“Our aims are to encourage prayer for Unity; stimulate interest and study in it; impart information on ecumenical topics; and to give news of ecumenical events and people.”

Una produced Together in Christ until 2003, when Deacon Michael Baldry took over the role of editor.  He writes:

“The search for Christian Unity is ongoing, looking forward, always with an eye on the past.  Before technology, the best we could do was booklets and pamphlets to sell and keep, then never look at again.  If the pandemic of 2020 has taught us anything, it’s care for our environment, the value of life, and caring about each other. The churches have been at the fore throughout the Christian era for these values.

By moving online now we hope to continue recognising Una’s mission that we can always do better, go further and reach out more than ever.”

So, for the foreseeable future, Together in Christ will continue online.  It is hoped that the aim can remain the same as the original one in 1983, and you will find it useful.
