The Christian Unity Commission for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark has been in existence for over forty years. Our main task is to encourage Catholics within the Archdiocese to work and pray for Christian unity.
May they all be one.
Father, may they be one in us, as you are in me and I am in you,
so that the world may believe
it was you who sent me.
CUC Discussion on The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham
Ten years on from the establishment of the Ordinariate, how should this project for the quest for Christian unity now be seen? The CUC held an online event on 14 April where there was a discussion on this and other aspects of the Ordinariate between Bishop Paul Hendricks, Assistant Bishop in the Archdiocese of Southwark, and Fr Christopher Pearson OLW.
The event was recorded and can be watched below.
Ecumenical Vademecum Online
The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity in Rome has released a new guidebook, known as a “vademecum”, offering practical recommendations for bishops on how to promote unity between Christians.
The document encourages the establishment of diocesan Christian Unity Commissions (we’ve had one in Southwark for over forty years!), and we shall be considering how it should inform our own future work.
